Description
The Great Salt Lake in Northern Utah, USA is a very unique lake. Foam is often created in the lake due to the naturally occurring surfactants which lowers the surface tension of the water. The source of these surfactants is the high amount of phytoplankton algae that lives in the lake. This causes bubbles that are created from waves to rise to the surface but do not pop. Instead they stretch and form together in clumps and wind carries them to shore.
