Description
I love to photograph the wild horses in the West Desert in Utah. This particular Stallion is one of my favorites. He is a majestic creature. Another stallion was approaching him from his right, and he was stomping his foot to let the other horse know he wasn't welcome. I was lucky to catch him at just the right moment when he turned my way.
A portion of all sales of my wild horse images is donated to organizations that help protect and preserve these amazing creatures.

Is he stomping at you? Terrifyingly stunning capture!
Darlene Smith replied:
Nope I was safe in the back of my truck about 150 feet away. Haha. There was a rival stallion approaching him and he was stomping at him.

Love this shot.... amazing catch... I too love the Mustangs of the west... I have just moved back to Las Vegas and are planning a trek into the Great Basin and Utah this coming spring.. Thanks for your entry. I usually pick three to vote for, this one will be one of them for sure... I'll hold until the end in case a tie breaker is needed... Hope to see more of you entrys in the Group Raised Country, Raised Right. Johnny
Darlene Smith replied:
Thanks so much John. They are fabulous to watch and photograph. Unfortunately, the BLM is planning to round up nearly 70% of the Onaqui herd here in Utah this next spring/summer, which this horse is part of. Makes no sense and breaks my heart. I feel these horses are causing no harm where they are and should be left to roam free. Hope you can see some in the spring!
